Kala Ghoda is a festival that has caught the fancy of many Mumbaikars. For the last 16 years this fest has never failed to excite and enthral its patrons. This year was no different. The Kala Ghoda festival is a welcome change for all Mumbaikars from the routine drudgery of life. Here they get to see something creative and thought-provoking.I am a regular at the festival and it has never ceased to impress.I have been there with my college mates and with other friends, this time around I joined the Moments Shoot Photo Walk group. This,as the name suggests,is a group of photo enthusiasts and being a photo enthusiast myself and having been with this group earlier I was looking forward to a great time at this photo walk.
We met at CST station and as decided earlier, walked to Kyanis restaurant for breakfast. We gorged on grilled sandwiches, mava cake, chocolate brownies,brun-maska and chai and made our way towards Hutatma chowk. As always, the breakfast was sumptuous! It was time to click and we made our way to Rampart Row near Rhythm House for the fest.I had my doubts as to why we were there as early as 10 am but I am so glad we were as later on the crowds kept on increasing and made it impossible to click the desired pictures.Thankfully,we,the early birds, had a wonderful opportunity to see and focus on each installation to our hearts content.Must thank my team leader Nikhil Gaikwad for bringing us here so early that Sunday morning.
There were many stalls as usual and they had many quaint stuff on sale but the prices were sky high and for us it mattered not as our sole aim was to see the installations and click pictures. We had a leisurely look at all the installations and I for one was impressed with the creativity that is on display at each and every fest like this. There were installations on films, childrens safety, women empowerment, patriotism, environmental conservation, healthy eating, corruption and the like. Each one of us had a great time clicking away and posing merrily at some installations. We did not realize how the time passed by and it was already time for lunch as our growling stomachs reminded us.On majority vote we trundled back to Kyanis and had delicious fare while a part of our group left for other commitments.Lunch consisted of kheem-pav,chicken lollipops, fish and chips, chicken puff and custard. The menu card is one that makes us want to come here again to taste what we haven't.So, stomachs satiated, we walked back to CST station and boarded our respective trains.According to the itinery ,we were to see some street plays and visit the art gallery too but all of us were too hot and tired to continue so we changed our plans.
Here are some of the wonderful moments we captured at the Kala Ghoda festival 2014.Thanks to my photo walk friends for a few of these pictures.....
